Dez Bryant is the best player on the Cowboys and arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL.
Bryant has been sidelined since Week 1 with a foot injury and his expected return date was supposed to be much later than tomorrow. So why is everyone trying to push Bryant back on the field so soon?
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see #88 back on the field. He makes this offense go. But my simple argument to everyone that is trying to get Dez back on the field so soon is this, the Cowboys are only a half game back out of first place in the division. If the worst happens and the Boys’ lose this game, then they will only be 1.5 games out of first place.
If Dez is ready to go then by all means Dez get on the field but I would hate to rush him back and the Boys’ lose him for the season instead of just waiting a couple of weeks.
In the NFL it’s usually the hot team at the end of the season that makes a playoff run and gets to the Super Bowl anyways. So while every game is important, as long as you’re in striking distance of first place and then get hot at the right time then you’re golden going into the postseason.
Not to mention there’s only a few more weeks until Mr. Romo gets back and this week, this defense is full strength for the first time all year. That defense is going to be a problem for New York tomorrow, just watch. If Cassel can hold down the fort like he’s supposed to do then Dez can ease his way back into the offense when he is ready and when Romo gets back this team could go undefeated the rest of the way.
Optimism people. Optimism. First things first though, will the Cowboys take care of business this Sunday?
I really think they will. Not just because I’m a Cowboy homer but this Giants team is just not that good. I think the defense forces some turnovers and will get pressure on Manning at will. I believe the Cowboys need and will establish the run game and with big La’el Collins out there the run game will look leaps and bounds ahead of what it’s looked like in past weeks. Cassel doesn’t have to do anything special, just convert first downs and throw to the open man. It’s a very simple game really.
Cows win 35-17. Book it.
