Boston– The Dallas Mavericks take on the Boston Celtics tonight at 6:30 CT. It’s the first time point guard Rajon Rondo will return to Boston since being traded to the Mavericks.
TRADE: Boston sends PG: Rajon Rondo & PF: Dwight Powell to Dallas for C: Brandan Wright, PG: Jameer Nelson, SF: Jae Crowder & two draft picks.
The trade was made out of desperation by the Celtics to get something in return for Rondo who would’ve became a free agent in the offseason and most likely not signed back with the team.
But Boston still might have expected to get more out of the players it got in return for a 4-time all-star.

Keep in mind the Celtics are 11-18 and are probably not going to make the playoffs. They made this trade for the future.

It’s clear who were the immediate winners of this trade thus far. But the real test will come tonight when Boston hosts Dallas.
