The NBA is back!

The Dallas Mavericks’ season kicks off tonight @ 7 p.m. CT against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs will be without their emerging star small forward Kawhi Leonard. Leonard has an eye infection.

The Spurs were already without Patty Mills and Thiago Splitter.

The Mavericks come into this game not worried about whose not out on the floor for the Spurs or about last year’s playoff battle.

Carlisle had this to say about his team’s playoff run last season.

“That’s over with,” Carlisle said. “I prefer to focus on the present and the future. We didn’t win, so it was a failure. That’s the way we view it.”

There’s no better matchup in Texas sports than Tim Duncan vs. Dirk Nowitzki. Sadly they hardly guard each other to preserve both of their energies for the offensive end. So instead of a one-one matchup lets see how well each team’s zone defensive schemes hold up. Will Tyson Chandler protect the rim and box out the Spurs big men? We shall see.

We’ll keep it short tonight and be back right after the game for a recap.

Mavs win in convincing fashion.

Dallas – 125 – San Antonio – 106

See you after the game!
